When Wipro posts its quarter results of 20% growth yoy and 7 % QoQ, how significant are these numbers to us?
We live in a world of comparison. What I really want to know is how Wipro has scored against the likes of TCS Infosys, Accenture, IBM. Who has won what business over the last quarter that has spiked their revenues? Are the margins up due to a proportional increase in the revenues or are they up because of a cost cutting strategy. No one really knows. The significance behind a percentage growth is relevant if it is not compared. Sure – It is politically correct only to say that you quantify growth and compare yourself with one’s own past. But it is a dog eat dog world after all. What good are you if you grew in comparison and failed relative to the rest of the world.

Hi Archana, I don't completely agree with your comparison mechanism; When you compare WIPRO, TCS and INFY - kind of agreed because they can be put into a basket titled as Revenue, Business Model, Growth. Whereas, IBM, Accenture, HP(EDS) are totally a different animal can't be compared with Indian Tier-1. Reason: again Revenue, Business Model & Market diversification and strong business ethics. Eg: IBM provide solutions & they don't say.. they provide products! which is still lacking in Indian IT companies, Esp. WIPRO
Hey Archana, Its May.2011; No interesting blogs?
Waiting to see something interesting about Business, Business, Business!
Thanks
